It has been more than half a year since all of us have been quarantined inside our homes. Despite being isolated this long, It is still difficult to adapt to the sudden lifestyle. The “new normal” still doesn’t feel natural and many still find it quite difficult to accept. And with this in mind, it is important to pay close attention to ourselves and give extra care to our overall well-being.
There are ways to make life in quarantine fruitful. It is by building self-care habits that will not only help you get through quarantine but it can also boost your happiness and preparedness even after the fact.
Exercise

As much as laying in bed all day sounds tempting, staying active is necessary especially during this time where we all have to be in good shape. There are countless of benefits one can obtain through exercising.
Aside from reducing risks of heart diseases or getting stronger bones and muscles, maintaining a habit of exercise can greatly improve your mental health and mood. It helps your body release chemicals that can help you deal with stress and reduce your risk of depression.
Starting your day with exercise can help you become energized enough to take the day on.
Meditation

Staying in one place for most of the time can be really taxing. Home may be a safe place but if our mind tends to roam around one negative thought after another then one can really develop fear, anxiety or depression. One way to successfully control your thoughts is by making a habit of meditation.
It is a helpful way to ground yourself back to the present whenever you find ourselves subconsciously entertaining future possibilities. All you have to do is close your eyes for at least 10 minutes and be mindful of your breathing.
This may sound so simple – boring even, but doing this habitually can help you consciously let go of passing thoughts and take control of positive ideas to entertain.
Sleep

Despite having responsibilities to attend to, whether that may be school work or work duties, it is still important to make sleep a priority. Having better sleep makes a world of a difference.
It gives your body time to heal and rest making you physically and mentally ready for the next day. Health benefits of sleep can improve your overall performance in so many ways such as better focus, mood and memory.
Accomplishing tasks in good condition maximizes your efficiency and productivity allowing you to do your best at whatever work at hand. This, in turn, makes your outlook on work rewarding and raises your morale.
Learning

With all of our time spent less in commutes and our days passed inside our homes, this is a great time to try and learn more about things that you are greatly interested in. Being in quarantine doesn’t have to feel like you’re stuck.
You can take this as an opportunity to develop your skills or finally do something that you have been putting off for a long time. Partaking in things you love can be refreshing and fulfilling. It may shift your perspective on being in quarantine.
Journaling

It’s hard not to lose your sense of day and time when you’re at home all day. There could be times where you look back to a few weeks or months from now and question what you’ve been doing all this time, and then end up spiraling due to lack of purpose or productivity.
Journaling can be a helpful way to write down your thoughts and emotions as a way to mentally separate yourself from the negative idea. It could also be a good way to keep record of small goals you’ve achieved each day so you can keep track of your progress whether big or small. This can be comforting as it is proof that you are trying every single day.
Please be reminded that being in quarantine isn’t a productivity contest. Just trying to take things at your own pace and taking good care of yourself is an accomplishment enough.
Exercise really is the single most important thing anyone should ever incorporate into their routine. As sucky as it is to start, nobody can deny the glow you feel after. Thanks for this!

I was not fond of exercising when quarantine started but I needed to because I was gaining so much weight, and also I just feel so unhealthy sitting around all day 😅
