Trust The Process

I have officially dedicated my time during quarantine to achieve being physically and mentally stronger. As most of you know, I’ve been expressing myself a lot on my blog by consistently writing. Other than that, I’ve also been trying to exercise daily this past quarantine.

As easy as it sounds, it’s not exactly butterflies and rainbows, and I actually have come to the realization that consistency can take a toll out on any person no matter what the task is.

When reaching towards the goal, there will always be good days and bad days, take exercising for example. There are days where your workouts are difficult but you’ll feel stronger and more energized right after. However, there will also be days where everything in your body aches and the temptation to skip the workout becomes stronger.

There are times where you’ll notice how you’re body is slowly changing; and there will always be days where you’re laying on your mat all sweaty and tired, looking at yourself in the mirror frustrated that there aren’t any results yet after more than two weeks of continuous sessions.

Anyway, when you’re still a work in progress it’s inevitable to question yourself if you’ve even made at least a step closer to your goal. You’ll start to doubt the efforts you’ve made. And at some point, the thought of quitting will linger your mind. It’s a normal thing and it happens to everyone.

When it all comes down to it, having the right mindset is everything. If you’ve set your mind towards failing, that’s where you’ll be headed. That’s why whenever negative thinking arrives, the only thing to do is to re-route the tracks and guide ourselves back to the right direction.

It is important to remind ourselves that just because we don’t see a huge improvement, doesn’t mean that there aren’t any. There can be situations where progress happens in a way that we have never envisioned. Still, progress always happens with time, effort and consistency, and however big or small it is, it will always count.

I did a workout program that promises a flat tummy after 30 days and I seemingly still have the same sized fluff on my stomach despite following through. Sure, it was disappointing at first but when I thought about it real closely I realized that I did gain a lower ab muscle underneath all of the fat. I gained muscle on my arms, lost a few centimetres, and I was able to do exercises that I couldn’t do before. There was progress.

If you compare yourself to what you were two weeks ago, of course there won’t be drastic results, but if you look back to 3 months ago or one year ago you’ll have a clear view of what you have accomplished.

Just like exercising, every goal that we want to achieve or the passion we want to pursue, none of it will ever come easy. Putting in a small effort today and seeing desirable results bit by bit will always be better than gaining nothing at all. All we have to do is trust the process.

  2. I feel like I needed to see this post. I’ve been struggling with consistency when it comes to exercise as well, and I’ve only just realised that it’s easier for me to be consistent when my want to exercise isn’t fuelled by dislike for the way I am now. When I just focus on getting stronger and feeling better, it just seems to come naturally, and I really love that!
    Loved this post!

  3. Ah yeah you definitely need more mental strength than physical you just don’t realise how strong you need to be to get and up yet every single day! And even if it doesn’t work out, to not be hard on yourself and accept there are both good and bad days. Love it!!

  4. Hey, this is really relatable. It’s really hard to continue on pursuing progress especially when you face those days that you don’t feel like doing anything. But, I agree with what you’ve said that it’s always worth it. It’s disappointing how toxic culture see drastic changes as if it was accomplished overnight but being a victor takes daily time and effort — a decision to continue regardless.

I suggest you find a habit tracker application that suits you well, this can be small victories to celebrate — it can help your dopamine levels. Stay safe! And enjoy exercising my friend!

    Great blog post!

    1. I agree! People these days are so keen on accomplishing many things in such a short amount of time when in reality, we have a whole life time to achieve the success that we want. Achieving success takes time and I think it’s okay to go at our own pace!

Thank you for sharing! 🙂 I will try this as well! Stay safe and all the best to you! ❤
