I Can’t Sleep

Tonight is like any other night
Similar yet somehow a little different
Odd but familiar
The thunder rumbles,
the calm before the storm,
Like how it tends to flood my mind
It's light flickering by my window
As if an alarm meant to disrupt my peace
Filling the dark room where I lie wide awake
I hear the crackle
Like every whisper I've told myself
And still, I listen
Until the mornings became dreadful,
Even when i'm wrapped with a blanket of warmth
